African Safari Day 7

Thanks to my hubby for excellent photographs.

Today is 25th July Friday.
We are to start early.  We were lucky that we could see the beautiful view of Mt. Kilimanjaro.  it is the highest mount in African Continent which is in Tanzania.  Since this  place is near Tanzania we get an excellent view as the sky is very clear in the morning.

                                                            Mount Kilimanjaro.

We start around 8 in the morning for our last game drive in Kenya.  Go into Amboseli National Park once again.

A Hyena

A mother and a baby Elephant

Now we are lucky to see Cheetah .  Three of them.  Lovely.  I could see them walking around with such lithe body.

The Beautiful Cheetah.  We were lucky to see them even though they are far.

We  see some big birds  which are walking instead of flying  called as  Kori Bustard. These are capable of flying unlike Ostrich but they hunt  walking.

Kori Bustard.

There is  a small airfield in Amboseli. Small flights land here amidst the moving animals.

We see more Elephants with babies in tow.

                                                               A cute Baby

A Group of  Majestic Elephants.  The Centre one looks so nice with Big Ears.

We see an Elephant herd of almost 30 Big Elephants .  Too good.  So Majestic they are.  Both Male and Females have ivory Tusk.  Very healthy.  We stop the Vehicle and keep watching the herd as they cross the road just in front of us.  Such huge animals are in so much of danger because of their beautiful tusks. I pray that they are saved from the hands of heartless poachers who kill them  for their ivory.

The Herd of Elephants which  I felt came to say Good Bye to us.

Our Stay in Kenya was very good thanks to our guide Mr. John who kept talking to people about the whereabouts of animals  through his radio and quickly took us there.  He drove very well and fast and  efficient never allowing any vehicle to over take us so that we don't get the dirt on our face from the overtaking vehicles.

Just before we left the Park we saw some nests of Weavers Birds on  trees.  It looks so nice.

We are out of the park and proceed to Kenyan Border with Tanzania a place called  Namanga.  It is around 11 a.m. there is a big queue in the Kenyan immigration office and  some commotion and confusion about the counters.  We manage to get our passports stamped.  we go to Tanzanian immigration.  It is fast and efficient.  Mr. John hands us over to Tanzanian driver Mr. Paul.  He is from Leopard tour.
With heavy heart we take leave of Mr. John.
The roads are very nice and  a nice vehicle Toyota with A.C. We reach a place called Arusha by        1 p.m.
We are taken to a good place for lunch.  But Paul goes off saying he has to change the vehicle which is in the workshop in which we are to go to Ngorongoro. We wait there after lunch.  In this place   there is a huge art gallery.   The whole place is owned by an Indian origin Tanzanian.(4th generation) Their main business is selling Tanzanite a precious gem blue in colour.  It is very good but very expensive.  I just drool and move on.

In front of the Art Gallery.

We are waiting for our driver and he is delaying,  We have another 3 plus hours drive.  We are worried and at last the driver comes and he drives quite slowly.
Gorongoro National Park gates will close at 6 p.m. and we have to reach there before that. We reach there just in time,  at 6 p.m. Again some waiting there as many vehicles are waiting to enter into the park. Inside roads are mud road and we have a long ride from the gate to the place of stay Serena Lodge, which we were not aware and were  told by the driver,  that it is just few minutes drive.  We go on and on  and since we are driving the whole day we are very very tired.
We reach the lodge around 7.30 p.m. ++ and the rooms are too good.  Again wooden steps and we need to climb up and down.  Very tastefully done rooms and our rooms are over looking the crater.

Ngorongoro is  a crater which is formed by a collapse of a  extinct volcano  millions of years ago.  Lots of animals are found in this crater and we have come here just to go into the crater and see those animals.
In each room they provide us with hot pack, as all these places Amboseli, Ark, Sweet Waters, Ngorongoro are quite chill.
We have dinner and go to rest. Internet is available in the room .

kori bustard looks a bit like our peacock.
Indian elephants have smaller ear and look more majestic. Am I partial to Indian elephants?. May be.

Yes I also felt that Indian Elephants are much more beautiful and handsome. I felt the African Elephants look linear and their skin looks wrinkled and like a old man's skin.
My heart went out for African Elephants as they are being threatened by Poachers and their social behaviour is changing because of this. If you can get a book called 'Elephant Whisperer' by Lawrence Anthony.
