Today is 21st July 2014 Monday.

This is the tree which is seen in Masai Mara which are like dots/spots  from which the place got the name..  (Masai is the name of the tribe and Mara is dots or spots)

We start early drive to a place called Naivasha. there is a big sweet water lake called Naivasha.   We reach around Lunch time and the staying place is called  Lake Naivasha Country Club.  After lunch we go on boating in the Lake to see many species of birds.  We see lots of birds .  We see many Hippopotamus in the water.

The place we have stayed is very nice.  it is over looking the lake. We are staying in Tent like Apartments.  Wooden flooring with Tent materials covering all sides. Even the Doors/Windows are also tent material and we have to zip up the doors.  Very lovely place of stay.

A small Bird behind our Tent.

To reach the main building/dining hall we are to cross a big grass area with swings  and chairs under big umbrellas for people to sit  and is like a park.

                                                        The Open Area

We are told that at night times, the Hippos which we had seen in the  lake Naivasha, come here and graze here and relax in groups.  When we come back to the room from our dinner we are escorted by a guard with torch  ( we are also carrying a torch).  We see some few hippos grazing in the Bush. We can  see only with the help of torch light. I feel 'How Lovely'.  (Later when I proudly tell my son Vinu about this experience he tells me that one has to be very wary of Hippos as they can charge at people with very great speed.  Thank God I  was not aware of this fact and  like the saying 'where Ignorance is Bliss , it is Foolish to be Wise'  I feel I was blissful being foolish walking freely where Hippos were also roaming freely)

When Hippos have such Natural habitat with vast water body  to be in day time and vast land to graze, what we see in Zoo  are unlucky  pathetic creatures just being in some muddy water hole all the time.

I was not aware that Hippos come out in the night to Graze.

We did not go into any Wild today and we have a very busy day  tomorrow.
